Our Story and Mission

Robert's journey into horticulture began at just 20, when he launched his first garden maintenance business after gaining hands-on experience as a young farmer. His deep connection to the natural world quickly translated into a career defined by craftsmanship, ecological insight, and a deep respect for the landscapes he worked with.

Over the years, Robert’s business evolved into a full-service landscaping company, and he eventually returned to formal study at Merrist Wood Horticultural College, where he refined his skills in garden design and expanded his creative vision. 

He has since delivered everything from formal gardens and heritage landscapes to wildflower meadows, orchards, woodlands, lakes, and glasshouses. He has managed and maintained large private estates—some spanning over 50 acres—providing complete end-to-end care, from design and implementation to ongoing habitat management. His client base has grown to include first-time buyers, professionals, young families, celebrities, and international royalty—each receiving bespoke, considered landscapes tailored to their lifestyles.

Robert’s  work has also included the development of educational gardens for schools and accessible outdoor spaces for Leonard Cheshire care homes, where he taught the principles of horticulture and food production to a wide range of communities.

More recently, Robert’s focus has evolved into constructing vertical gardens and sustainable green infrastructure. Working under subcontract, he led the creation of the largest vertical garden in London, managing everything from concept and team recruitment to installation and ongoing care. His work has also included green hoardings for one of central London’s largest construction sites, underscoring his commitment to innovation and ecological design.

Green Ascent

Robert’s latest venture, Green Ascent, is a culmination of over 30 years of experience. It represents a forward-thinking approach to garden and landscape projects – where sustainability, design, and function come together to create  greener, healthier spaces for a changing world.
